Raising the Minimum Wage.28 June 2006
So, the federal minimum wage has not been raised in 9 years. Well, in those 9 years Congress has voted themselves 9 raises, totaling about $31,000 in raises alone (not counting base salary here). Right, so that means that Congress, in the last 9 years, has given THEMSELVES raises totaling about three times as much as someone making minimum wage makes in a year. Does this seem right to anyone at all? We need to do more than just raise minimum wage. We need to make narrowing the massive gap between the rich and the poor. We know, it’s no secret, that when minimum wage is raised the prices of things will go up so that corporations can keep their profit margins, and execuatives their fat pay checks. How about a law on the allowed difference between the most wealthy, and poorest of the poor? Mad Read Comments ()
